10x flux increase in soft x-ray pulses from high-harmonic generation
One my main projects during my post-doc and fellowship in the Marangos group was generating isolated soft x-ray pulses from high-order harmonic generation from a few-cycle long-wavelength pulse. Although such pulses are an extremely useful experimental tool, the generation process is very inefficient and so the the resulting pulses are extremely weak. Today we announced a tenfold increase in the flux across the transparency window of water (284 eV to 540 eV), published in Science Advances.
